why does it hurt so bad to lose a pet?

my favorite cat had 6 kittens about 4 months ago,one died the same day it was born and all the others died about 2 months later and im still very upset about losing them, not really the first kitten since i didnt get to spend time with it,but the last 5 it was hard,

expecialy this one kitten *my favorite* he was my baby he was always by my side everywhere i went he followed and he even slept with me…

im not sure why they died they just got sick and within a few days they died,my mom wouldnt take them to a vet since we couldnt aford it:(

but my question is,is it normal to still miss pets after 2 months of them being gone? i have pictures of me and my favorite kitten and everytime i look at it i want to cry…:(

yeah it is normal. its really upsetting when you lose a pet…like losing a part of the family…
animals become really close companions, but unfortunately very few animals out live humans, and so we must go through the pain of losing them :( i still have pictures of me with my bunny, he died from mixamatosis, he got bitten by a mosquito carring it and died about a month later…it was really hard and now when i look at the pictures of us together it makes me want to cry too…so yeah it is very normal..you dont just get over losing a family member even if they were only with you for a short time…

i know alot of people who are just like ‘get over it, they are just animals’ n it really gets to me…what do they mean by ‘just animals’?? animals love you no matter what…they do everything with you… and when they look at you with those big round eyes..(even if it is just because they are asking for food) you cant help but love ‘em… those people obviously never experienced having a companion pet…i kinda feel sorry for them.
anyway you dont need to worry…take as much time as you need…i doubt youll ever really stop missing them, but take your time. hang in there it will get better with time.

It’s perfectly normal, pets become a part of your life and therefore, a part of your family.
I’m so very sorry – it’s ok to cry though.

    Pets are like real people.
    Except, They understand you.
    You grow to love them.

I’ve had a lot of pets.
    And I’ve lost them.
Its still hard to look at pictures of them.

But it will get better, I promise. :]

because when you let love in your heart and it is stolen from you, naturally you will be hurt. a pet starts to become apart of your family. pets lift us up when we are down and dont judge us. they are there for you through good and bad.

im sorry to hear about your kittys..

I am so sorry to hear you lost your pets. Pets give us unconditional love and they are part of our lives. So it is very natural to mourn the loss of a pet.

I have lost 2 cats in the past 26 years – one was 17 years old and he had hyperthyroidism and I had to put him to sleep – I loved him too much to see him suffer.

However, the worst was when I had to put down my 1 year old kitten that had a tumor pressing against her heart and was causing fluid to continually build in her lungs – and the tumor was inoperable.

My point here is – you would think that losing a cat after 17 years would be harder than after a year – but it is not. To me, losing my 1 year old was harder because she was so young – and you losing your kittens – all of them – that is just a lot. Give yourself time to mourn.

It is okay – and don’t listen to people that say it is silly, etc.

I hate it when people say that pets are just pets – they are family. They give unconditional love – and you love them unconditionally.

    Hang in there!

It is normal, yes. I had a wonderful female cat and she died two years ago (from old age). I still miss her badly, I have pictures of her and keep one in the kitchen so I can see her every day. It is difficult to get over a pet you love so much.

Because they do what people can’t do.
No body will stay with you all the time you need him to stay.
No body will go with you everywhere and no body will stay happy when you live him or her.
No body will move the tail when he or her sees you.
No body will let you own him or her.
No body will belong to you naked all the time.
No body will accept to eat what ever you like in the floor with out any special instruments or flavors.
No body will stay with you permanently in spite of all these things.
A pet will not argue with you.
A pet will not go to court if you give him or his children away
    as a present
If you leave him somewhere far away, he will always come back and pass his tongue over your hands as a demonstration of happy gratefulness and love.
No body will do that but your pet.

We are born with different personalities. Some people are very sensitive.

my kitten died 1 year ago too…
    his name was Kuro.
I was badly hurt because of that.
    its obviously ordinary y’know….
but never stop thinking about it.
It’s just like our part of family.
IF you lose you’re favourite kitten, it’s just the same you lose one of youre family member.
