Whats your opinions, and what should i do?

I want to share what happened 3 days ago, and i want a suggestion on what i should do.

These parents bought a kitten for their 3 year old children just to keep them away i seen the kids throw the kitten at the ground "they live 2 houses down"

so i go to their parents and ask them why buy them kittens just to get killed..?

the parents response – ‘we don’t care if the kitten gets hurt or killed its not our responsibly its the kids’

So while no-one was around i put the kitten in side my house – the parents don’t buy food/water for it cause it ‘cost to much’ it was throwing up most of that day to.

I was curious – i asked neighbors according to them the kids was throwing it at the ground pulling it on leash and putting it in a tree for hours so it woudent escape.

I don’t understand why parents would buy a Animal – and just let 3 years olds kill it..

Pictures of the kitten first 2 pictures-

What are your opinions on the parents/child abuse towards the kitten?

I also might keep this kitten, i have come attached to her – shes very sweet if they do eventually come and ask me about the kitten
Should i tell them she ran away? or offer them money for her?

~Zach
Just saying – this was 3 days ago she have ate and drunk alot and tooken to the vet – i noticed the abusment towards the cat before it did get servilely hurt.

CALL THE POLICE. That’s just sick. As the adults it’s THEIR responsibility to insure this animal is treated well – not a freaking three year old. How sick that they don’t care. Gotta wonder where this kid learned about abuse? He may be being abused himself. I would also call the local Child Protective Services or whatever it’s called there. Tell them they leave a three year old child alone in their yard and it’s abusing animals.

Report what they said to you. And if they still have other kittens – or get another one – let the police know. I would also keep a camera handy and snap or videotape any proof of abuse. It won’t be admissable in court but it’ll certainly make the police or animal control more likely to believe you.

Very cute kitten – it’s got a "Black Torbie and White" coat which is the combination of tabby markings (note the stripes on the leg) and Tortie/Calico – which would indicate it’s most definitely a "she". Keep her inside. Get her microchipped at the vet with your info and licensed in your name. If you haven’t done so already get her tested for FIV and Feline Leukemia. Someone as crappy a pet owner as these people are who knows what diseases this poor kitten might be carrying. Keep her away from your other cats until she’s tested.

I doubt these people will come looking for the kitten and if they do just play dumb and say you found her. And thanks for saving her (((HUG)))!!!

I’m so glad you got the kitten out of there. File a report with the police for animal cruelty. People like that make me so mad I’d like to abuse them. Just keep the kitten. No need to pay them anything. They’ll just forget about her anyway. Sadly though, they’ll probably have another by the weekend. Keep filing reports against them everytime you see anything happening. Call the SPCA and ask what you can do about it. Don’t give up.

My neighbor was keeping 5 chocolate lab dogs in a 6×8 kennel. He never let them out to exercise, left the kennel filthy with feces, and barely fed them. A litter of their puppies froze to death last winter. It took me over a year reporting him and showing pictures of the dogs till finally something was done. All his dogs but one were taken away and for some reason, the remaining dog is being treated very well now. Please don’t give up.

    Zach,

I never said this<grin> but do keep the kitten. These people have absolutely no right having a live animal, and allowing their child to torment it. They are training another Cheyenne Cherry, the gal that put a kitten into the oven, turned on the gas, and heat, and walked out of the house as a "joke".

She is adorable Zach, and thanks so much for helping her.

Just tell them you have no idea where the kitten is, that she more than likely did "run away".They probably won’t even recognize a kitten that is beginning to look healthy and fit. Just tell them that "gee, she does look a little like yours, but yours was sickly and skinny. Not at all like this one."

Then, if they get another kitten and treat it the same way, call the police and animal control. You can also contact the ASPCA and report them. Take pictures if you can.. grab your camera..

These parents should be prosecuted for not only cruelty to animals, but more than likely child "abuse" by not only allowing but condoning and teaching the kid to be cruel. They don’t even deserve toy cats.

But I never advised you to "lie" <grin> I am just supporting you in your act of kindness toward this helpless little girl kitty.

Those parents don’t deserve to be parents. Not only do they shirk responsibility for a defenseless little kitten, it seems they also don’t take responsibility for their own children. It’s no wonder the kids are treating the poor kitten so badly. They haven’t been taught otherwise. That is so very sad.

You are very kind to step in to help save this little kitten from a horrible situation. It was also very brave of you to approach the parents when you sensed something was wrong. That is something that’s not easy for a shy young man. If I were in the same situation (and of the same age), the first thing I’d do is ask my mother or another trusted adult for support. You’re going to need some adults on your side. Those parents need to be reported for animal abuse (it is NOT their kid’s responsibility — 3-year olds are not responsible for anything—it the parents responsibility). I also think that Child Protective Services would be very interested in knowing what is going on with this family. I shudder to think what goes on behind the closed doors of their house.

There is no way I would ever give that kitten back to those people. But, you may have an uphill battle if they choose to fight for the return of the kitten. This is another reason why you need to have an adult on your side. The best thing to do is to document everything. Put down in writing everything you’ve seen and heard, and what the neighbors have seen and heard. Make sure to keep all the vet records and try to get a statement from the vet about the condition of the kitten when you brought her in. Pictures and videos would be very helpful if you have them. You will need all these things if they choose to get the law involved. I really doubt that they will, but you never know with these kinds of people. They may do something out of spite, so you can’t be too careful.

Best of luck to you and your new kitty.

You have most probably saved this kittens life by taking her in to your side house and them saying its the children’s responsibility is crazy a child of 3 cant be held responsible for a kitten they are babies themselves and cant even look after themselves let alone be responsible for a defenceless kitten,

what they are doing is animal abuse and neglect and i am outraged about it,and you can tell the poor kitten has been through a lot just by looking at the pictures it has clearly suffered in their hands,

how the poor kitten must have suffered by being dragged along on a leash and put up a tree they don’t deserve to have any pets,

and i doubt that they will ask about her as they don’t care about her in the first place and they say she belongs to a 3 year old so you would have the right to keep her, as a 3 year old is not old enough in the eyes of the law to own a cat so legally she has no owners as in the parents eyes its not theirs,

i wouldn’t return her if you do you would be sending her to her death and would regret it forever knowing you could have helped to save her, and she would most probably give up on life as that’s what abused animals especially kittens do she would simply give up,

so you do whats right for the kitten not for the ones who is abusing her,i wish her well in getting whats right for her and thats a loving home and it seems that home is with you.

Keep the kitten and give it the good home it deserves. I dont give a **** if its "stealing", because what they are doing is far worse than stealing.

I think those people sound like some sort of maniacs. They have bought the kitten as a toy for those brats to play with. Three year old children can not be held responsible for the safety and wellbeing of an animal, and to their so called parents, that kitten is nothing but a plaything.

Tell them nothing if they come after the kitten, which I very much doubt they will anyway. Keep it and love it and care for it.

Lie to them. Recording shouldn’t be worth risking they kill it. They deserve to be lied to.

Those people aren’t fit to have any animal if they allow 3 years olds to treat the kitten so badly. The kitten could end up dead if they get her back. It’s not so long since a kitten was killed by a child slamming it off the wall, they are far better with soft toys at that age.Not that those kids will grow up kind to animals anyway with parents like that.
If I was you I’d keep the kitten and if anyone asks you about it tell them you don’t know where the kitten is but you heard that Animal Welfare are looking for the owner to prosecute as they have witnesses to the kitten being abused.
It’s wrong to lie I know but to save an animal it’s certainly justified !

Personally, I would keep the animal. No that isn’t the "right" thing to do by law standards, but to me it is immoral to put that poor creature in such abusive hands. I applaud you for your courage. I would report the family either way, especially if they have other animals or plan to get more. These people don’t need any animals, they obviously don’t have the brain cells to have animals. Any parent who thinks a 3 year old is going to properly care for a living animal is an idiot. And to not buy food is just ridiculous. I have family members who do these things and it drives me up the wall. I just don’t understand it! Good luck!

First off go to the SPCA or call the police. 3 yr olds should not have a kitten they cant even care for themselves but when when you say they throw it into the ground! Tell the SPCA what’s going on they may be charged with animal cruelty. Realize that you might have to give the kitten back but if you were told the things you say you were and have seen these actions you did right and by calling the SPCA/local shelter/police. Report the idiots for animal neglect and abuse.

You did the right thing getting the kitten out of the situation no matter what anybody says. The SPCA most likely would have. CALL the SPCA/LOCAL SHELTER/POLICE and report them.

Call your local humane society or the SPCA. If you don’t have the SPCA’s number, you can find your local number on the internet or call the local humane society. Explain what was going on. If there are any visible injuries on the cat PHOTOGRAPH. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. I cannot stress that enough. You have to HAVE TO document EVERYTHING. What they were doing was animal abuse.

If they come asking about the kitten, tell them point blank that what they were doing was animal abuse and that it is a crime, punishable in some states with up to 1 or 5 years in prison and some hefty fines. Also tell them that if they really want the cat back you will be outside anytime they’re outside with the kitten and you’ll have a video camera, and you will record everything that is done to the kitten so you can show the cops and the SPCA.

The best thing to do right now with the kitten is to bring her to the humane society. Because you are the one reporting the abuse, they will probably offer to let you adopt her, but they will need to examine her first and make sure she’s not ill or fatally injured in any way.

Do they know you have it? If not I’d tell them I haven’t seen it but if I do, I’ll be sure to let hem know.
Next time, VIDEO tape what the kids are doing and call the cops.

    add"

from the pics taken it doesn’t look like the cat was severely neglected (if at all, not that I don’t believe you Zach, I do). So the cops would need evidence to do nything.

And as nice as it would be if people did the right thing ad said "Yes, I did see that happen" many don’t for one reason or another.
