I’m really sad. My mom is pretty much making me declaw my kittens. She furnished my fiance’s and my apartment with really good, really nice furniture (couches, chairs, big-screen TV, kitchen table, kitchen chairs etc…) It was a lot of money! She also helped my fiance and I adopt 2 adorable kittens. They are so sweet! My fiance and I had planned on not getting them declawed… but… now my mom is saying that we HAVE to get the kittens declawed because of how much she spent on the furniture. I don’t want to make a war over it, so I’m going to comply I guess. They have an appointment for next week to be declawed as well as getting their shots. Will my little kittens lose their sweet temperaments? How can I make it up to them and show them I still love them?
Yeah, my mom is extremely stubborn and unreasonable. The kittens have a scratching post that they use all the time – I never see them claw the furniture. I’ve tried to tell mom this, and she says, "Well, I had cats that weren’t declawed and they ruined my house blah blah blah". And the problem is getting into a fight with my mom over something like this is just not worth it. She’s helping my fiance and I a lot in our new apartment – we need her to stay afloat. I hate that I have to declaw them, I feel very against it, but what can I do with my mom being so stubborn?
