My 13 yo cat wakes us up continuously at night but otherwise is doing very well. suggestions?

He’s gone from 16 lbs to just 12 lbs, probably because he’s lost most of his teeth, plus I’ve caught him outside throwing up once or twice. But otherwise he is very healthy and spry, still hunts, sometimes plays like a kitten with yarn. He’s a farm cat that we brought home 13 years ago, He’s neutered. our problem is that he continually wakes me or my husband up at night, sometimes 3 or 4 times every night. it’s getting so bad, we’ve talked about putting him down. My husband is up very early for work. Last night I missed out on about 2 hours sleep, after the cat woke me up and couldn’t get back to sleep. so, and this is getting to be a big problem. we’ve tried leaving his dish of food outside so he’ll just stay out. we’ve tried chasing him around in the evening and not letting him sleep so much. But seriously, he’s like an old man. In and out, he’s never really used a litter box, wants fed, goes back out. (you get the picture) His nights are like his days now. naps, sleeps, gets up moves around a bit, then i see him sleeping someplace else, either outside or inside. Help, any suggestions would be welcome. This is getting to be such an issue, we’ve even discussed putting him down, but otherwise, he’s very spry and doing well –what do we do!??
There is NO ignoring him at night. If he’s outside, he stands on his back legs and rakes his front claws down the patio door. (it’s like listening to someone rake their nails down a chalkboard, try ignoring that in the middle of the night). If he’s in, he makes the awfulest meowling sounds. I can’t imagine locking him in the garage (or another room) and listening to him howl like that all night long.
Jen, That’s what I’m trying to avoid–putting down a good cat! but I think giving him away isn’t the answer either. At his age, I think that would be just as inhuman and turn his world upside down.
Maddie, good point on the senior cat food idea. I’ve started buying some senior food (Friskies? I think) and haven’t seen him outside throwing up lately.

New baby kitten (ADORABLE!) help with care-taking!!!?

Ok, so my cousin’s cat had kittens. Her mom was making her take it to the pound. we took the poor things to the pound. Those little tiny cages!!! I wanted to take them right then, but i couldn’t. When we came back and visited them, they were saying that if someone didn’t adopt them, they would have to put them to sleep (kill them) because the place was too full. Anyway, so I took a kitten and brought it home today! ADORABLE!!!! it’s like a baby! It climbs up my pants to sit on my lap, and if i put it down or leave the room, he wont stop meowing!!! When we first got home I gave him some water. He drank it for a long time. Then I fed him some chicken breast, He ate some of it, but then I realized he was a baby. So I put some milk in a pot til it was warm, and fed it to him. He drank a bunch of that, and then yawned and went to sleep on my lap.
I was just wondering what to feed a kitten in it’s growing years, and when can i start giving him cat food. About how old?
Also, what should I name him?

He’s adorable and brown with black stripes, he meows a lot, and he reminds me SO MUCH of my old cat. I swear they look exactly alike, except he’s in kitten form, but my cat died :(
This cat liked brightened up my day!!! I got in trouble at school and a bunch of drama was going on, and Mr. Kitty here just made me forget about it all. Calmed me down.

I was gonna name him SunnyD because he drank my sunny d (well, some, b4 i stopped him)
Then I was gonne name him Phoenix (meaning rebirth because he looks like my old cat)
Or Serenity (because he calmed me down after this crazy dramatic day!!!)
OR…Clover, because I got him on saint Patrick’s day. What do you guys think???
P.S.- Dont b so focused on the name part that you forget the other question!!!!
Oh, not only just ffod and what to feed when, but also other care-taking. Like potty training, cleaning, grooming, etc. Anything you think I should know. I never had a baby kitten before. THANKS!!!!
