my kittens have accents? and do I have Russian Blues?
I have adopted them from the shelter and the workers told me they were Russian blues. Both are now 4 months old. Both had blue eyes. One is a lot softer with now more greenish eyes (jade color is very slightly seen in the inner) and the other one seems like he might have a little longer fur then the other one with yellowish green eyes with a jade in the middle like his brother..So here's my question. Can cats have accents? Both cats seem like they have Russian accents lol. It sounds like they say: Meow-ccchhhhhhh. The "ccchh" is really enunciated.
Is this normal, as I have never heard another cat do that before???? Here's another question. I have looked at tons of pictures of Russian blues on google, and same with Korats. I honestly think my kitties look like both, but I heard only Russians have a double coat. How would I be able to tell if they have a double coat?? Here are some pictures =]

They are both male kitties named Harley (bc he purrs so loud you can hear him from the other room) and Gizmo (bc he's a fatty who likes to cuddle)
So when I move their fur, it looks like the fur under looks kinda like down feathers on a bird (reallly super super soft). Could this be double coat?

Oh my gosh they are so gorgeous!! They certainly do look like they are True Blues! Check this site:

I thought my Seymour must have been RB too and I ran across this…well of course he's not a purebred but like the website says, it doesn't mean that he's any less of a cat! Just that he's simply is not a member of a defined breed.
You are really going to enjoy them! They are very smart and have wonderful personality traits.
The mauve pads is what gets me, that is so unique!
Unless your cats are registared with papers, there is no way to know if they are any specific breed. As far as accents…… I have 5 cats and can tell you each one by the sound of its Meow. They are all different. 4 are the same litter and are 5 years old.
they probably can but it isnt really like an accent it is more… a type of meow it is the breed of cat really
By the way the cats are GORGUS!!! i luv their eyes
Your kittens are blue in colour. Without registration papers and proof of pedigree, you can only guess that they are Russian Blues. My breed has blue cats, too, but they aren't Russians. Blue is a colour which is genetically black with a dilute modifier on the gene.
I googled pictures of Russian Blue kittens and yours might be.
The CFA web site says that their eyes should be a vivid green if they are to be show cats
DOUBLE COAT: Having a thick undercoat with another top, coat of longer hairs. The awn hairs may be the same length as the guard hairs (Russian Blues)
I got the above quote from Google.
Regardless of whether your kittens are purebred Blues, they are both beautiful and they look sweet. Enjoy your life with them.
Oh – and you might want to learn to speak Russian.
Hon, they are probably not purebred Russians, though they do sound gorgeous!
I highly recommend naming them "Boris and Natasha"
