Do your dogs and cats get along?

I was looking through my past questions and I found one that I posted when I first got my dog. It was about my kitten biting my puppy’s neck and it making him yelp LOL! Well anyways, now they are best buds and love each other =) They are always playing and wrestling and the cat gives the dog a bath all the time. They even sleep together.
My kitten was about 4 months old and my puppy was six weeks when they met. Now they are 9 months and six months!

So do your cats and dogs get a long? What cute things to do they together?
Here are some pics of them.

    hi,

Despite the cliché about fighting like cats and dogs, it’s perfectly possible for the two species to live happily under one roof. However, it’s also perfectly possible for a cat to injure a dog, and for a dog to seriously hurt or even kill a cat. To keep your home a peaceable kingdom, you’ll want to arm yourself with some know-how before you add a new four-legged resident.
    here are some guidelines:

    hope this helps.

Mine get along…for the most part. When I was fostering them as babies my Labrador decided they were a threat and ended up killing one of them…I ended up keeping them separated from that point on but one day when the cats were full grown they charged up to my dog and they started acting like best friends…So NOW they get along I guess >.>

Yep, they get along wonderfully. I have 2 dogs, a 3 year old GSD / Husky mix and an 8 month old Basset Hound. Also, there’s 2 cats, both 6 months old, a russian blue named Nyx and a Maine Coon named Tricksy. Tricksy is a little more standoffish with the dogs, but Nyx and Rufus are best friends. He follows that kitten everywhere.

My dogs have to be used to cats though. :) We run a home based animal rescue, and so many cats and dogs come through our doors, they didn’t have much choice BUT to get acclimated. Max used to be bothered by it, but obviously he’s learned to just not care, lol.

They get along famously. My chow mix likes to get excited and nose at my cats to try to get them to play, which they don’t; they just get annoyed, slap him on the nose and run away. One of my cats will sometimes cuddle up with my border collie. I’ve seen them groom each other.

Mostly, they just ignore each other. My dogs are so great with my cats, though, that we can leave them all alone in the house together with no problems; we do put up a baby gate in the hall just to keep the dogs out of trouble though. :)

Ours get along great! We have 2 puppies – 5 month Beagle German Shepard named Dunkin and an 8 month Blue Tick Beagle named Lilly) and 4 cats – 5yo orange tabby Timmy, 3yo black and white Oreo, 2yo orange tabby Scooter, and a couple month old gray tabby Max) They’ll play and run around the house together and then snuggle up and go to sleep. So funny to watch! (Timmy and Oreo take a little while to warm up to other dogs but Scooter and Max love my dads 2 Norwegian Elkhounds just as much when they visit!

A few pictures from the first day or two we brought the puppies home (Lilly is about 3 months, dark colored pup – Dunkin is about 5 weeks, light tan pup)

When I was young we always had cats and dogs. They too would bath each other and play all the time. I thought that the cutest thing was when they slept snuggled together to keep each other warm on cold nights.
My husband (before we were married) had a really mean dog that hated cats, he had a dog house outside, and in the cold months he would place a heater I guess some type of furnace to keep his mean dog warm all night and in the morning when he would check on him a bunch of stray cats would be sleeping with him, thats really funny because as soon as the morning came, they were back to being enemies..how funny!

My dog bit a kitten’s head off. True story.

Needless to say, we don’t have any cats!

At my house there are 3 dogs and one cat indoors. The cat is fairly friendly with the two smaller dogs, although most of the time he’s biting the dogs ears and making them cry. They run and chase each other all the time. Sometimes they take naps together until the cat decides he wants the couch to himself so he bites the dog until it moves. I think the cutest thing they do is their little separation anxiety thing… whenever the dogs are outside and the cat is inside by himself he sits at the door and cries and paws at the window until his dog friends come back in.
