Cats 5 – Kittens – a celebration of impishness

Song #5 from the CD “Songs My Cat Taught Me”. I used pictures of Jazzkatz kittens to illustrate the song. The melody is from my song “Friends” which seems to have a playful kittenish nature beneath its apparently serious persona. Just like people, so too melodies can be harmlessly schizophrenic. You just have to scratch below the surface to discover the hidden side. Kittens – A Celebration of Impishness Kittens are cute, they’re never mute They will pull stunts that will warm your heart Give them a line, plastic or twine, Ties them in knots, dancing the gavotte. When you have worries that are too much to bear Confide in your kitten he’s ever ready to share. Dropped vitamins, half eaten mints Give endless fun as they chase them around. Helpless insects, old sacred text Are all fair game, to them they look the same. Don’t leave your sewing carelessly on the chair When you return you’ll find it’s no longer there! With water to play, they cause dismay On cleaning days with the mess they make. Shredding the mail, chasing their tails Hiding in bricks, these are familiar tricks Best mates to romp with. Sacrifice pomp with. Kittens will frolic all the time. Handle them gently, challenge them mentally. Kittens are lovely in their prime. Kittens will make the church bells chime. Kittens are funny when they climb. Kittens you’ll cherish for all time.
