Have you ever thought about the broad appeal of kitten pictures. I mean, come on, they are the cutest little creatures on the planet. Who loves them? The young, the old and everyone in between. Is the general love for pictures of these little felines because they are in themselves so cute, or is it because they remind you of that special little kitten you brought home for the first time? I don’t know if we can know the actual reason because it seems that those who love to look at kitten pictures, are generally those who have owned one or two (or more!) in the lifetimes.

Pictures of Kittens are so cute!

I must confess my bias here – for me, kittens are at the top of the cute scale, bar none. I mean, puppies are cute and all, but there is something about pictures of little kittens that put me over the absolute edge. Is it their little paws? Or the little noses? Or that ever-projecting little tale? I don’t know, but I just love-em. When my kids and I find a new cute photo on the internet, we just sit around and stare – it’s like magic. They give such a warm feeling inside.

Pictures of Kittens are so calming!

Again, this is total unscientific …BUT… looking at pictures of kittens is a very calming activity. Is it their innocence? Is it their playfulness? Is it the endless curiosity? Innocence, playfulness, curiosity – these attributes come out in many of the kitten photos I’ve seen. I think some of the best calming pictures of kittens I’ve seen are those when the little felines are peacefully asleep. I always feel so good when looking at these little fur-balls.

Pictures of Kittens – could they help with kitten adoption?

This is clearly a guess – but it occurred to me that those that are caught up in the euphoria of gazing at cute pictures of kittens may be enticed to go out there and adopt one for themselves. It seems logical to me. The kitten photo is unbelievable cute – but wait until they get the real thing – my heart just went pitter-patter. So, here’s a strategy – email your friends cute kitten pictures every so often – maybe they’ll get the bug to go out and adopt one – just a thought!

Kittens are not unlike growing babies. They begin their little lives so small and pretty soon, they are lying in your arms, as cute as can be – at total peace with the world. And, before you know it, they enter that kitty-toddler phase – running up and down your favorite drapery and crawling like moles under your throw rugs!

Kittens can be fussy eaters. Even the tiniest kitten can/will spit out anything it doesn’t think is the best available. And by the way, ‘best’ is subjectively defined by each kitten – less to do with brands or expensive cost and more to do with what each kitten likes or dislikes – which takes a little experimentation to learn.
Which brings us to number 3 – your kitten will, before long, become a cat that has definite opinions on what it likes and dislikes. Be prepared for your feline to adopt many of your items as his own.
For all of your friends and family that have ill-feelings about felines to those that are desperatly allergic to them, count on your kitty to fall in love with them – it’s inevitable.
Cats have a well-deserved reputation of being difficult to train – and they are compared with other animals like dogs by and large. However, that doesn’t mean that they can’t be trained – trained to use the litter box, for example. Some industrious cat-owners have even been able to train their beloved furballs to use the toilet! But be prepared for some work ahead.
Your small, little kitten will grow, and grow quickly. It seems to happen almost overnight. As they grow older, the can become more territorial – be prepared for some battles – like over your favorite pillow.
Kittens are infectious – be prepared for them to quickly warm itself into your heart. But here comes the challenge…they are so cute, you will be tempted to get a 2nd or 3rd – be prepared because it happens a lot. Your single kitten household can turn into a two to three cat household very easily.

When owning a cat, there are few things to consider, such as: living conditions, feeding, grooming and cleanliness.

Living Conditions

Cats are very adaptable – they can live indoors or outdoors.Â If you live in a city apartment, then your cat will most likely be an ‘indoor’ cat – although some apartment dwellers do like to take their favorite felines out for a walk from time to time (if this is the case, then make sure you use a good cat harness).

If you live on a farm (sort of the other extreme), then your cat may be an outdoor or barnyard cat exclusively. And guess what, they are happy either way. The big no-no for a cat is keeping it constantly locked up in a cage – this will drive the cat nuts for cats need freedom and mobility.

Feeding

Again, with a cat, you have great deal of flexibility here. You can have free-choice feedings, meaning, the food is constantly out and the cat can eat whenever it wants to. Or you can have scheduled feedings, where you set out a certain amount of food at a specified time. Of course, the free-choice method is easiest on the owner, but if your kitty has a weight problem, you may have to set down a schedule. Also, consider this, cats are natural hunters and by extension carnivores – they need to eat food that is high in protein. A vegetarian diet is a dangerous thing for a feline.Â Most cats will prefer canned food over dry, but dry food is better for their teeth. Some people like to alternate back and forth between canned and dry so their cats get the best of both worlds. In addition, try to avoid giving cows milk to ‘Fluffy’. You see, the cow’s milk protein size is too large for cats to digest and some won’t react well to it — you cat can suffer from diarrhea or other digestion problems like vomiting. Fresh, clean water is what cats need most.

Grooming

One of the best features about a cat is its ability to groom itself. Cat’s instinctively want to be clean and are constantly using that rough tongue of theirs to clean themselves from head to toe. In fact, when a cat stops cleaning itself, you might be concerned that he/she is sick or not feeling well. The long-haired cat breed owner may also have to spend some time brushing their kitty, just to keep Fluffy’s fur from getting all tangled. But remember, this is more of a cosmetic concern.

Cleanliness

Cats instinctively want to eliminate is relatively clean places. They also like to bury their waste, which is why they often dig in their litter box beforehand and then cover it up afterwards. Be good to your cat and change their litter boxes often. Clean your cat’s litter box frequently, at least once per week. Your cat will be happier for it and you will also enjoy a better smelling dwelling. One symptom that you are not cleaning your cat’s litter often enough is when you cat starts to eliminate in other places. You don’t want this because cat urine is extremely potent and will just hang around.
